Assistant Volunteer Coordinator Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and community-oriented Assistant Volunteer Coordinator to join our team. This individual will play a vital role in supporting our Volunteer Coordinator with the recruitment, onboarding, and management of hospice volunteers. The ideal candidate is passionate about making a difference, excels in communication, and thrives in both independent and team environments.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Assist with volunteer recruitment, interview scheduling, and onboarding.
+ Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to set recruitment goals and track volunteer hours.
+ Maintain accurate volunteer records and compile reports as needed.
+ Stay informed on current regulations and standards related to hospice volunteer services.
+ Support the coordination and delivery of volunteer services by staff, volunteers, and contractors.
+ Help develop and maintain community partnerships to support program sustainability.
+ Monitor and assist with volunteer orientation, training, assignments, supervision, and performance evaluation.
+ Support recruitment of bereavement volunteers in partnership with the Bereavement Coordinator.
+ Assist in planning and delivering volunteer education and ongoing training.
+ Provide community presentations and represent the organization as needed.
+ Participate actively in the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
+ Contribute to Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
+ Previous experience in healthcare or volunteer coordination preferred.
+ Comfortable working with individuals facing end-of-life situations.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with volunteer management software is a plus.
+ Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel within the service area.
Skills & Abilities:
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Confident in public speaking and community engagement.
+ Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
+ Competent in data collection, problem-solving, and drawing valid conclusions.
+ Familiar with Windows operating systems and able to quickly adapt to new technology.
+ Skilled in maintaining confidentiality and using sound judgment.
+ Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and the public.
Special Requirements:
+ Current TB screening upon hire and annually thereafter.
+ Valid driver’s license and auto insurance (especially if transporting patients or visiting homes).
Physical Requirements:
+ Regular ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk, and communicate.
+ Must be able to frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
+ Visual abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
Work Environment:
+ Primarily office and community-based work.
+ Occasional exposure to unpredictable home and facility environments.
+ May encounter pets, fumes, or chemicals during home visits.
+ Moderate noise level in office settings.
Travel:
+ Occasional travel is required for agency business and community engagements.

The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. The pay range for this role in the state of Colorado typically falls between $22.00 - $25.00 per hour with the potential for performance-based bonuses and other benefits.
