    *Job Summary:*

     

    The Nursing Supervisor assumes shift accountability for hospital operations and provides direction and assistance to the primary caregivers in patient - care areas.

     

    Acts as a clinical and administrative resource to staff.

     

    Coordinates and directs activities in emergency situations.

     

    Counsels and directs unit resource nurses and staff in provision of direct nursing care.

     

    Functions as a patient advocate. Investigates and resolves patient/customer and staff complaints. Seeks guidance as necessary.

    *Minimum Education:*

    Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

    *Required Skills:*

     

    Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Demonstrated ability to lead groups, both formally and informally. Demonstrated clinical competence in relevant area of practice.

    Current Virginia State RN License

    Basic Life Support BLS (may be obtained week of orientation)

     

    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

     

    Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

    RN Specialty Certified Preferred

    *Minimum Work Experience:*

     

    Required: 5 years of experience as Registered Nurse in a hospital setting. 3 years of progressive managerial experience.
