Description

Are you an experienced engineer skilled in addressing challenges within systems in complex, IT environments? We are hiring for this immersive, hands-on role, you’ll take charge of installing and maintaining servers and cabling, handling system administration tasks, and resolving complex network engineering issues. To excel in this position, you’ll need strong attention to detail, an aptitude for problem-solving, and a robust understanding of both physical and system architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Install, configure, and maintain physical servers, racks, and structured cabling within data center environments.

+ Conduct routine diagnostics, repairs, and replacements for hardware and network infrastructure.

+ Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot physical components, including server hardware, storage systems, and networks.

+ Perform system administration tasks, such as user account management, permissions settings, and system configurations.

+ Troubleshoot and resolve network issues involving devices like switches and routers.

+ Keep thorough documentation of hardware inventories, cable layouts, and system configurations.

+ Ensure adherence to organizational protocols covering safety, security, and operational excellence.

+ Collaborate with remote engineering teams to implement hardware solutions within broader IT frameworks.

+ Contribute to infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and scaling efforts in line with evolving organizational needs.

Skills and Experience Required:

+ Eligibility for or possession of a Top-Secret security clearance.

+ Significant experience in server hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

+ Proficiency in structured cabling, cable management, and documenting cable systems.

+ Understanding of system administration (e.g., Linux/Windows servers, shell scripting, and related tools).

+ Foundational knowledge of networking (e.g., IP addressing, VLANs, routing, and tools like Wireshark).

+ Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities within physical and network systems.

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration across teams.

+ Ability to handle and install heavy equipment, such as servers and racks.

+ Familiarity with secure environments or IT systems requiring high security protocols.

+ Knowledge of network engineering, including configuring switches, firewalls, or load balancers.

+ Hands-on experience with automation and monitoring tools (e.g., Ansible, Nagios).

+ A bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
