    Job Description:

    Summary

    The Global Health Initiative is a multidisciplinary effort to reduce health inequalities among underserved populations locally and worldwide through education, research, service and development of partnerships. GHI supports and coordinates training, research, and service activities to reduce disparities in disease burden and to improve treatment outcomes both at home and abroad.

     

    The Financial and Administrative Coordinator for the Global Health Initiative (GHI) will assist the Director and Administrative Manager with the administrative, financial and programmatic items related to the GHI. This position provides financial support for the Director, Principal Investigators and Manager in reviewing pre- and post-award funding from grants and contracts including research to prepare proposals, drafting budgets, monitoring expenses, preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, processing expense reports and ordering materials and equipment. This position also provides similar support for the department budget accounts and other administrative support as needed.

     

    The Financial and Administrative Coordinator also provides administrative support for GHI activities including scheduling executive committee meetings, coordinating global health research training activities for students, trainees and faculty, updating the GHI website, assist with creating and disseminating the GHI e- newsletter, coordinating international travel, planning events, and other administrative functions.

     

    This is a fixed term with a current end date of one year from hire, which may be extended based upon available funding.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    + Required: Associate’s degree

    + Required: 2-3 years of related experience

    + And/or the equivalent combination of education and experience

    + Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills are highly desired

    + Experience working with financial and budget information, including the ability to analyze and reconcile accounts, is highly desired

    + Prior experience with grant coordination and submissions is highly desired

    + Interest in global health and health equity is highly desired

    Job Competencies

    + Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressure, environment.

    + Demonstrated strong organizational and written communication skills, an excellent command of English language and grammar, and strong proofreading skills.

    + Computer proficiency and continued interest in maintaining skills and overall proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Filemaker Pro, and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail, internet research, and site creation).

    + Ability and willingness to quickly learn new programs and systems.

    + Basic accounting skills.

    + Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of people with confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.

    + Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings, early mornings, and/or weekends for special program events.

    + Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with a diverse population of administrators, students, and faculty

    + Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
