    Description

    Faculty members are primarily teachers and are responsible for the preparation and implementation of

    assigned courses. The college expects faculty members to expend about three-quarters of their time in

     

    teaching responsibilities.

    Examples of Duties

     

    + Teaches 15 hours per week of courses in criminal justice and be able to teach at least three of the

     

    following courses: Introduction to Criminal Justice, Introduction to Criminology, Introduction to

    Forensic Science, Constitutional Law or Criminal Law

    + Develops and teaches appropriate course content for classroom, remote and online delivery that

     

    conforms to current specifications for accessibility

     

    + Conducts a minimum of three office hours per week

    + Participates in curriculum development and revision, including textbook selection, writing

     

    learning outcomes, assessment and program review

     

    + Clarifies to students the expectations and standards for all assignments, assessments and class

     

    activities

     

    + Advises students and shows concern for their academic welfare, assisting with coursework and

     

    setting goals

     

    + Advises students and shows concern for their academic welfare

    + Responds to college's needs, adheres to departmental and college policies and assists students in

     

    course work and planning of programs

     

    + Pursues professional development and increased knowledge in teaching through avenues such as

     

    self-and graduate study, workshops and conferences

     

    + Participates in the college governance process through committee-level tasks

    + Participates in college recruitment day activities, college-wide committees, etc.

    + Performs other related duties as assigned

    Typical Qualifications

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or closely related field with significant

    progress toward completion of Master’s Degree

    + Master’s degree in the law enforcement, criminal justice or closely related field preferred

    Experience:

    + Teaching experience

    + Five years of experience in law enforcement, criminal justice or closely related field

    + Experience with WCAG/accessibility a plus

    + Demonstrated teaching excellence with diverse student populations

    Competencies and Skills:

    + Strong communication skills

    + Ability to deliver course instruction on the ground in the classroom, remotely through Zoom or a

     

    comparable video conferencing software and online through Blackboard or a comparable LMS.

     

    + Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite

    Terms of Employment:

    + This position may require flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any

     

    Atlantic Cape location.
