    GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE JOB

    Independently sets up and operates the Induction Heat Treat, while maintaining quality standards to meet customer requirements. Continuous Improvement of processes and products are an ongoing function of this position.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Knows the proper settings on the lepel units and the feeding systems, “RF” power and “grid” meter settings, chain speed and hopper speed settings, dial speeds on the dial and stud machines.

    + Qualified to set up the feeding systems; vibratory feeder bowl and air jets, feed rail and top rail, coil block and coil height, proper dial selections for the various size of parts, find and repair minor problems inside the lepel units, assist in troubleshooting and major repairs to the lepel units.

    + Water flow and electrical problems.

    + Replace oscillator tubes, PC boards, transformer, etc.

    + Any general maintenance that can be done which does not require maintenance department personnel.

    + Helps to maintain the stock of spare parts.

    + Maintains the efficient feeding of parts.

    + Keeps downtime to minimum, set-up machines quickly and efficiently, make repairs as needed.

    + Able to run an extra machine when the workload increases.

    + Facilitates the flow of product through the department, helps determine follow-ups and cut-ins while maintaining production levels.

    + Able to read an Induction print.

    + Qualified to set up parts according to the print

    + Qualified to perform the necessary Quality Control Tests, File test, Macro test (section & acid etch), drive test (when necessary).

    + Able to record the results of the Quality Control Tests on the proper log sheets or safety sheets.

    + Able to assist in troubleshooting Quality problems.

    + Qualified to fill out any necessary paperwork, Induction Heat Treat log sheets, safety sheets, production cards.

    + Knows the reporting procedure for the Q.A.D. system.

    + Knows how to perform scale transactions.

    EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

    + Prior experience as an Induction Heat Treat Operator.

    + Knowledge in ISO/QS/TS requirements.

    + Ability to consistently meet production and quality standards.

    + Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of all required operator documentation.

    + Ability to legibly complete records and documentation.

    + Good communication and teamwork skills.

    + Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems.

    + Knowledge of basic math

    + Mechanical aptitude preferred.

    + Ability to possess a valid forklift license.

    + 1 – 2 years of experience operating Induction Heat Treat equipment is a plus.

    Environmental Conditions

     

    * Factory conditions vary but machines give off heat, smoke/mist,

    *All equipment has moving mechanical parts.

    *Machine operators must work with oils and other chemicals in the manufacturing of parts and in cleaning of work areas.

    *Because wiring is present, there is some minor risk of electrical shock while operating equipment.

    *When in operation, machines will vibrate, as will the feeding systems of some equipment.

    *Hearing protection is required PPE due to consistent decibel levels present when equipment is operating.

    *Gripping/handling/fine finger movements are required for machine setup/operation, mechanical adjustments, gaging of parts, housekeeping, and control/switch operation.

    *Reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching are physical requirements associated with setting up and operating equipment.

    *Talking and hearing may be necessary to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors; as well as to hear alarms, pages, and machine noises.

    *Pulling/pushing of parts on wheeled devices may reach a weight of 300 pounds.
