Job Title: Material Control Operator
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Material Control Operator who will be responsible for managing and maintaining inventory accuracy of our product stocks across multiple branch locations. This role involves operating various types of forklifts, conducting inventory control, and working with a diverse team to ensure efficient material management.
Responsibilities
+ Operate sit-down forklifts, order pickers, and side-loader forklifts.
+ Conduct inventory control and cycle counting duties.
+ Operate material handling equipment to support material movement.
+ Enter inventory data into a computer and record data manually using a clipboard.
+ Load and unload metal materials, both manually and with a forklift.
+ Complete material receiving activities for shipments between locations or directly from the mill.
+ Coordinate movement of material from stock to processing to support production requirements.
+ Perform accurate and timely data entry within the inventory management system regarding material movements.
+ Prepare and maintain appropriate inventory identification tags.
+ Complete material consolidation tasks, including supermarket.
+ Identify material shortages and issues, and communicate to appropriate staff.
Essential Skills
+ High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
+ Ability to read, write, speak, and understand fluent English and perform basic math problems.
+ Basic computer skills for data entry into the inventory management system.
+ Ability to use a tape measure and calipers for material inspection/measurement.
+ Certification to operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, side-loaders, or cherry-pickers.
+ 1.5 years of experience operating a forklift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 3 years of material control or inventory experience.
+ Previous experience safely operating a variety of material handling equipment.
+ Strong attendance and work history.
+ Attention to detail and ability to work on your feet.
+ Experience with paperwork and chain of custody.

Work Environment
Work in a large raw material supplier facility where materials are stored, cut, and shipped to customers. The environment is fast-paced, with over 60 employees on the floor. The role involves operating in various shifts, including 1st shift from 6am-2:30pm (Mon-Fri) and 2nd shift from 12:15pm-8:45pm (Mon-Fri).
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.70 - $22.70/hr.
