Job Title: Piping DesignerJob Description

Under minimal supervision, the piping designer will design medium to complex mechanical and piping systems using both 2D and 3D design tools. The candidate should fully understand the process of design development and be skilled in preparing drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated instructions. Knowledge in designing plant mechanical and piping systems, developing piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings (GA), equipment plans, and piping orthographic and isometric drawings is essential.

Responsibilities

+ Design medium to complex mechanical/piping systems using 2D and 3D design tools.

+ Prepare drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated instructions.

+ Develop piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings (GA), equipment plans, and piping orthographic and isometric drawings.

+ Understand and apply the engineer’s design development process.

+ Review mechanical supplier documents for accuracy and purpose.

+ Coordinate mechanical/piping design activities with other discipline groups.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Plant 3D.

+ Experience in piping design, power generation, and industrial piping design with a minimum of 10 years of experience.

+ Knowledge of 2D and 3D design utilizing Autodesk Plant 3D.

+ Understanding of energy systems, steam equipment, and gas compressors.

+ Ability to physically route pipe and design pipe supports.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Associate degree in piping design or equivalent demonstrated experience.

+ Experience in designing powerplant piping and support systems, industrial piping, air, water, and steam systems.

+ Knowledge of BOP systems, pressurized air, and condensate systems.

Work Environment

The work environment offers flexibility, with opportunities to work in the office or remotely as temporary help. The position typically involves a 40-hour work week, with an emphasis on maintaining work-life balance. The role includes three core days in the office from Tuesday to Thursday, although attendance may vary. Opportunities for career advancement into supervisory or managerial roles are projected due to significant growth in the US market.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $62.50/hr.
