Are you an experienced Central Sterile Processing Technician looking for a rewarding opportunity? UPMC Magee is hiring a full-time, night shift Lead Central Sterile Processing Technician to join our dedicated team. We offer a $5,000 sign-on bonus with a two-year commitment for external hires with at least 2 years of prior sterile experience.

Responsibilities:
+ Act as a liaison between Sterile Processing Department (SPD) and Operating Room (OR), ensuring smooth coordination.
+ Arrange in-service education programs and assist in staff orientation and development.
+ Assess, maintain, and manage surgical instrumentation, ensuring availability and proper functioning.
+ Oversee ordering, updating, and streamlining of instrumentation sets to enhance performance.
+ Assist in reducing surgical instrument errors and improving turnaround time.
+ Clean, decontaminate, disinfect, and reassemble equipment, instruments, and supplies.
+ Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with department policies on sterile processing, infection control, and safety.

+ Support professional development, mentoring sterile processing technicians, and fostering continuous learning.
+ Utilize performance improvement tools and integrate best practices into daily operations.

+ Develop management skills and participate in cost-containment initiatives.
+ Manage staff schedules, reassign personnel as needed, and ensure efficient department operations, including off-shifts and weekends.
+ Maintain troubleshooting expertise in sterilization equipment and monitor parameters for optimal function.
+ Participate in department services coordination, committees, and task forces.
+ Communicate effectively, provide recommendations, and ensure documentation supports caregiver collaboration.
+ Contribute to improving patient safety, quality care, and workplace culture.
+ Prepare and assemble surgical trays and equipment following established guidelines.
+ Serve as a key resource for information and support across departments.
+ High School Graduate or equivalent.
+ Three years of central sterile processing experience required. OR Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician/Sterile Processing program with two years of central sterile processing experience required. Annual Project Required.
+ Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
+ Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Employees active in a Central Sterile position, on or before the effective date 12/27/2020, at a healthcare facility, are grandfathered regarding certification and will not need to obtain it unless they move into a different position that would require certification. Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Registered Central Service Technician or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management certification required for our PA and NY facilities (MD facilities are excluded). New employees in our PA and NY facilities (MD is excluded) will have 18 months from date of hire to obtain required certification.
