    The NYU School of Law is seeking a full-time Program Finance Manager, with expertise in grants management and organizational budgeting, to join the Law School’s Office of Financial Management in support of the Policing Project and other research centers. This role will report to the Senior Director of Fiscal Affairs and Executive Director of the Policing Project and other senior staff members.

     

    The main responsibilities will include overseeing organizational budget operations and pre and post award management, with emphasis on grant submissions as well as financial reconciliation, planning and projection across the assigned accounts in accordance with departmental processes.

     

    The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal, sponsor and institutional regulations such as attestations, effort certifications, salary allocations, cost transfer requirements, etc.

    Responsibilities

    The Program Finance Manager, who will report to the Senior Director of Fiscal Affairs and Executive Director of The Policing Project, will be responsible for duties including:

    + Responsible for financial administration for the Policing Project and other Law School Centers as directed.

    + Prepare, monitor, and review operating budgets and forecasts, and provide a wide range of data reporting and analysis both for individual projects and organization-wide.

    + Develop budgets for grants and other funding sources, support grant application process, advise on and implement allocation of grant funds, and track and manage reporting requirements.

    + Execute financial transactions and other financial support work.

    + Create ad hoc budget and spending models in Excel.

    + Draft and contribute to grant reports and other funder requirements.

    + Assist in relevant special process and systems improvement projects as needed.

    In addition to the responsibilities listed for above, the Program Finance Manager will be responsible for:

    + Learning and understanding the Policing Project’s mission and operations and serve as the main financial representative for the area.

    + Participating in regular staff meetings for Law Finance and Policing Project.

    + Developing working relationships with Law School departments (development/grant pre-award team) and university (sponsored program accounting, procurement, accounts payable, risk management) to facilitate transactions, reporting and problem resolution.

    + Maintaining extensive contact with Law School Faculty, Department and Center administrators with financial management responsibilities. Will have frequent contact with Law School Human Resources and University Budget and Comptroller's offices, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and Payroll departments.

     

    Compensation and Benefits

     

    In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for a Program Finance Manager position is between $90,000 and $114,750 per year depending on experience.

    The Policing Project has physical office space at NYU School of Law in New York, but offers hybrid or remote work arrangements 60%-80% per week.

    Requirements

    + Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field

    + 5+ years of relevant or equivalent combination in academic environment and/or grants management and reporting

    + Ability to effectively communicate information to individuals at all levels.

    + Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

     

    Working knowledge of PeopleSoft General Ledger, SQL, and Oracle or other financial reporting software is a plus, but is not required.

     

    Must be well versed in quality data collection and reporting to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards.
