Job Summary
This position will report to the Director of Research Development, Huntsman Cancer Institute ( HCI ).

Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
* Aid teams of faculty researchers in the development and management of multi-project grant proposals and other grants of institutional importance to HCI . Participate as a member of programmatic teams, acting, as needed, as: shepherd/scheduler/stage manager/coach/editor/contributor.
* Independently manage development of multi-project grant applications.
* Provide scientific writing and editorial review of grants and other narratives with the goal to produce top-quality final products that meet or exceed the guidelines and objectives of funding agencies.
* Support writing of honorary award nominations for HCI faculty.
* Address writing/editorial/analysis needs of the HCI Comprehensive Cancer Center Executive Director’s office and HCI , as assigned.
* Develop and maintain an awareness of HCI strategic goals and accomplishments through participation at relevant meetings, seminars, retreats, and strategic planning events. Participate in strategic planning activities, as assigned.
* Potential for supervisory role.

This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree + two years of related experience **or** Bachelor’s degree + six years of related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

Preferences
* PhD in science or related/equivalent area; five years of progressively more responsible dedicated management and/or writing/editorial experience; effective leadership, human relations, and communications skills.
* Strong understanding of scientific funding mechanisms ( NIH , DoD, Foundations) and grant application processes.
* Relevant prior experience in a university and/or NCI -designated Cancer Center setting.
* Project management experience.
* Expertise with office and writing software (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Co-Pilot, Adobe Acrobat, EndNote).
* Basic graphics skills (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign).
