We invite you to become part of Connecticut’s most comprehensive healthcare network. *Position Description* *This position is with MidState Medical Center* The Mobility Aide provides safe and appropriate basic patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Language Pathologist. As a member of the rehabilitation team, the Rehab Aide supports a safe and positive patient experience by assisting in the delivery of care and performing delegated multi-skilled basic patient care services. The mobility aide will be responsible for: * Provides safe patient mobilization and transfer assistance using approved assistive devices and procedures in the acute hospital setting as directed by a licensed physical or occupational therapist. * Monitors vital signs before and after treatment and notifies patient’s nurse of any significant change in vitals. * Demonstrates use of patient transfer equipment/device use, patient mobility techniques, and body mechanics in a safe manner. * Reports the patient’s nurse any injuries or adverse reactions during or after treatment. * Documents and communicates completion of mobility in the electronic medical record and to the nurse for each patient. * Performs other duties as assigned. * Education to new and existing staff on safe patient handling techniques including but not limited to: o Hoyer lift, Sara Lift, Sara Stedy, Egress test, use of assistive devices etc. High school diploma or equivalent required. * o Customer service experience and computer literacy required. o Patient care/rehab aide experience highly preferred. o Minimum of 1 year work experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred. o Certified or Non-Certified Nursing Support experience preferred (CNA, HHA, PCT) o CPR validation may be required within 3 months of hire depending upon work area specific requirement. o Must be able to physically lift and move patients in a safe manner.
