    Who We Need

     

    We are looking for a patient, energetic, and passionate Related Services Supervisor. This is an opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team, focusing on the educational programming for all school-age children at every level of ability. The Related Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of related services for all Abilities First Education Programs. This role ensures that speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling, and other related services are provided in accordance with the school's programs, state regulations, and the individual needs of students. The Related Services Supervisor will collaborate with the special education team, instructional staff, and parents to ensure that services are effectively integrated into students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

     

    Schedule:This is a fulltime Monday - Friday position, 40 hours per week – 52 weeks

     

    Pay Range:$115,000.00 to $125,000.00 Per year

    Responsibilities:

    + Supervise and evaluate the performance of related services staff, including speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, school counselors, and other related service providers.

    + Participate in the selection process of direct hires and collaborate with Human Resources on the utilization of contracted staff as warranted.

    + Review and coordinate related services schedules to ensure optimal service delivery.

    + Ensure that all staff are familiar with and adhere to relevant school policies and state regulations related to service provision.

    + Collaborate with the school leadership team to design, implement, and evaluate related services programs that align with the school’s mission and goals.

    + Oversee the creation and implementation of individual service plans (ISPs) for students, ensuring that services are aligned with their IEPs and address specific needs.

    + Monitor the effectiveness of related services programs through data collection, feedback from staff, students, and families, and other performance metrics.

    + Ensure that related services are delivered and in compliance with state and federal regulations, including New York State Education Department (NYSED) requirements for Approved Private Schools and the county requirements for preschool programs.

    + Maintain accurate documentation of service delivery, including progress reports, service logs, and IEP updates, to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

    + Collaborate with the Director of Special Education and Principals to complete required reports and submissions to the state and other regulatory bodies.

    + Serve as a point of contact for parents and guardians regarding related services, ensuring that they are kept informed of their child's progress and service delivery.

    + Facilitate communication between related service providers, teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure coordinated and holistic support for students.

    + Participate in IEP meetings as needed and assist in the development of IEP goals related to related services.

    + Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages the sharing of strategies, resources, and best practices.

    + Organize and lead professional development opportunities for related services staff to enhance their skills and knowledge of best practices, current trends, and regulatory changes.

    + Stay current with developments in related services practices and educational research to continuously improve service quality and effectiveness.

    + Ensures all required trainings and certifications required are current, and seeks further support and training where needed.

    + Adhere to agency Code of Legal and Ethical Behavior, which require all employees, consultants, board members, volunteers and affiliates to perform their responsibilities according to ethical and legal standards with honesty, integrity, fairness, good faith and respect for others and the law.

    + Follows all agency policy and procedures and demonstrates continuous regard to personal safety and the safety of others.

    + Performs other appropriate job-related activities as required by the Chief Program Officer or Chief Executive Officer as circumstances warrant.

    + Will incorporate concepts of person-centered excellence by respecting people’s concerns and responding accordingly and will use “teachable moments” to assist people in understanding and exercising their rights.

    Physical Demands

    Unless reasonable accommodations can be made, in order to perform the essential functions of this job, an individual should be required to:

    + Have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, squat, bend the knees, pivot, and grasp with both hands (in order to properly and safely perform the techniques taught in CPR/First Aid, behavior intervention techniques, and lifting and carrying techniques).

    + Lift individuals by using appropriate techniques, including but not limited to usage of tools to assist, such as the Hoyer Lift.

    + Assist individuals in ambulation by providing physical assistance, including use of a gait belt or other equipment where necessary.

    + Have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

    + Have the ability to push, pull, and maneuver individuals in wheelchairs.

    + Possess verbal and written communication skills, in English, to ensure adequate regulatory documentation.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Master’s degree in a related field (Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, School Counseling, or a related area). Certification in New York State as a related service provider (e.g., SLP, OT, PT, etc.) and/or appropriate New York State licensure. Additional coursework or certifications in special education and leadership is a plus.

    + Minimum of 3 years of experience providing related services in an educational or clinical setting, preferably in a special education environment. Experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred.

    + Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations, including IDEA, Section 504, and NYSED requirements for 853 Private Schools and 4410 Preschools.

    + Ability to interpret IEPs and use data to monitor and assess the effectiveness of related services. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including staff, students, families, and external agencies.

    + Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.

    + Must have a current NYS driver’s license, free of moving violations; deemed acceptable by our insurance carrier.
