The team you will be a part of
The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.
This role in summary
Manage technical resources to provide quality planning and development of the reliability test plan for new products. Make recommendations as to the ‘Production readiness” of new products. Also includes, analysis and reporting of external quality trends, evaluation of returned goods. Recommends product changes to improve quality, reliability, costand customer/consumer satisfaction. Manage Product Liability personnel. Interfaces with all departments at all levels.
Your responsibilities will include
+ Manage new product quality planning resources to develop preliminary Control Plans and other quality deliverables. Assist with developing or refining product specifications. Provide consumer-focused test protocols and product qualification testing to assess product reliability and ease of installation. Use statistical tools to forecast field failure rates where possible.
+ Develop and implement ongoing product testing protocols to ensure product reliability and sustained customer/consumer satisfaction. Manage the coordination of returned goods. Develop and maintain systems to evaluate, capture data and report returned goods information in assigned facilities.
+ Ensure product liability claims process supports the timely processing of claims, legal requests for product information are accurately fulfilled, and record retention is done in accordance with Emerson guidelines. Make recommendations for process improvement.
+ Manage personnel involved in the analysis and reporting of quality trends that impact warranty costs and customer satisfaction. Develop systems to monitor external quality from Call Center, internet product reviews, Service Claims and other sources.
+ Actively participate in Design Reviews, Product Safety Reviews, New Product Development oversight committee and other venues. Monitor inputs, analyze results and make recommendations for improvement.
+ Review and approve all reliability test reports. Recommend “production readiness status” of new products based on reliability test results.
Minimum requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ 5 years’ experience in quality management, or 10 years of progressive responsibility in quality management
+ Must be computer literate and have proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred skills and experiences
+ Strong record of working in multi-functional teams and have demonstrated skills in leadership, initiative, creativity, analysis, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
