Description:
Position Title: P.T. Assistant CPID:
Department: Outpatient Rehabilitation: Eldridge
Purpose: Provides treatment to patients within Genesis Health System in a caring, professional and
efficient manner. These settings may include inpatient, out-patient, long term, home healthcare
and /or outreach services. The assistant may provide treatment independently according to
State practice guidelines. The assistant is responsible for assisting the therapist in
reassessment. To complete necessary documentation in an accurate and timely manner. To
supervise clinical interns in an effective and professional manner with the guidance and
assistance of supervising physical therapist.

Supervisory No Supervision: The job does not require the provision of guidance or supervision to
Responsibility: others. There is no formal responsibility for directing others.
Materials Responsibility: Very Limited. Work requires very limited responsibility for material resources.
Examples of resources could include personal work materials, supplies or equipment,
or very small amounts of cash. The employee has a very limited or indirect amount of
control over these resources. Although human error might require the repair or
replacement of materials, usually the cost of correcting these errors is minor. The
variety and volume of resources is also very limited. Problems associated with material
resources are very uncomplicated.

Education: 2 year college program or equivalent experience
Field OF Study: Physical Therapy
Special Training: Basic Life Support
Training Preferred: Word processing, spreadsheet, Illinois state license
Licensures/Registratio lowa state license. If licensed in another state, must obtain licensure within 1 year.

Communications are of moderate difficulty and sensitivity. Contact with others may
involve detailed & lengthy dialogues & exchanges of information. Requires a moderate
amount of interpersonal skills. Interactions involve dealing with moderately complicated
problem situations or stressful encounters.
Working Condition: There is limited exposure to highly adverse environmental conditions including physical
hazards, health and safety risks, and otherwise undesirable characteristics in the
environment. Personal risks require safety equipment or precautions to be followed
closely but the time the employee may be exposed to these conditions is limited to 10%
or less of the work day.

What You’ll Do
As a Physical Therapist Assistant you will:
+ Deliver safe, effective physical therapy interventions for diverse patient populations (orthopedic, neuro, post‑op, geriatric, pediatric, sports‑injury) across outpatient clinics, acute care floors, home‑health visits, and specialty outreach programs.
+ Collaborate closely with supervising Physical Therapists to reassess patients, progress treatment plans, and document outcomes in our electronic health‑record system—on time, every time.
+ Educate patients & families on home‑exercise programs, fall‑prevention strategies, and adaptive techniques to maximize independence.
+ Uphold all Iowa (or Illinois) PTA licensure standards and Genesis Health System policies for quality, safety, and infection control.
+ Mentor PTA students and clinical interns, modeling best practices and professional ethics.
What Sets You Up for Success
Minimum Qualifications
+ **Associate Degree** from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (or equivalent military training).
+ **Current Iowa PTA license** —or ability to secure Iowa/Illinois licensure within 12 months of hire.
+ **Basic Life Support (BLS) certification** .
+ Tech‑savvy with the ability to learn documentation software; MS Word/Excel skills helpful.
+ Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with physicians, nurses, case managers, patients, families, and the public.
Preferred Extras
+ Outpatient rehab or acute‑care rotation experience.
+ Illinois PTA license in addition to Iowa (dual‑state licensure earns priority).
+ Interest in specialty programs (sports medicine, vestibular, pelvic health, wound care, lymphedema).
