Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification Instructor
Contract Role| $35–$50/hr | Flexible/Hybrid | Maryland
Contract Details:
+ Flexible hours depending on course schedules, some evenings and weekends required.
+ Instruction may require in-person delivery at specific locations in Montgomery County, Maryland and/or virtual sessions.
+ Contract duration will align with course offerings.
Are you passionate about empowering others and making a difference in community health? Holy Cross Health is looking for a dynamic and engaging Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification Instructor to join our mission-driven team!
In this flexible, hybrid contracted role, you’ll train and inspire the next generation of CHWs, helping them gain the skills and certification they need to serve their communities. You’ll lead adult learners through an interactive, Maryland state-approved curriculum — and we’ll provide all course materials.

What You’ll Do:
+ Facilitate engaging, learner-centered CHW certification courses.
+ Mentor and support participants as they prepare for certification.
+ Tailor teaching methods to diverse adult learning styles.
+ Track participant progress and submit a final course evaluation.
+ Submit a final evaluation report summarizing training activities, participant outcomes, and recommendations for improvement.
What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in public health, community health, education, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
+ Certified Community Health Worker (CHW) or equivalent experience in community outreach (preferred).
+ Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a CHW or in a supervisory role supporting CHWs (preferred).
+ Minimum of two (2) years of experience in adult education, training, or facilitation.
+ Strong understanding of community health principles, CHW core competencies, and the social determinants of health.
+ Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
+ Proficiency with virtual learning platforms and digital tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
+ Familiarity with Maryland CHW certification standards and requirements (preferred).
