    STRATEGIC BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTION

    US Technology, Infrastructure & Innovation (US TI&I) enables the continuous transformation of our Bank by accelerating the shift to digital, strengthening operational resilience, simplifying what we do, improving CIBC's speed to market and protecting our Bank's assets.

     

    The teams work to maximize the investment in resources and technology while building an appropriate balance between high-touch client service and our fiduciary responsibility to protect CIBC, our clients, and our shareholders from undue risk.

    JOB PURPOSE

    The role is a seasoned expert responsible for providing specialized consultation in adherence to ongoing regulatory and audit oversight. As a member of CIBC’s US Technology Regulatory and Controls team, you will conduct risk and control assessments across various technology domains to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with technology partners to guide control design and assess control maturity, as well as working with compliance and audit partners to effectively address and resolve technology control issues. Utilizing your expertise in risk treatment methodologies, you will contribute to the development and execution of technology risk programs, encompassing governance, compliance, and cybersecurity, while being part of a dedicated team focused on enhancing control awareness and managing organizational risks.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    + Utilize expertise in technology to identify and document gaps.

    + Lead procedure and standards updates to reduce regulatory risks.

    + Support CIBC's Control Framework for compliance and issue management.

    + Manage complex projects to identify risk and control issues.

    + Support annual audit activities.

    + Develop ongoing technology risk reporting using analytics.

    + Collaborate with leaders to address control gaps and improve processes.

    + Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including technology, compliance, and audit teams, to facilitate effective communication and collaboration on risk management efforts.

    + Collaborate with technology partners to provide expert guidance on control design, ensuring that controls are effective and aligned with best practices.

    + Evaluate the maturity of existing controls and recommend improvements to enhance their effectiveness and compliance.

    + Work closely with compliance and audit partners to identify, address, and resolve technology control issues, ensuring timely and effective reporting.

    + Actively participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing control awareness within the organization, promoting a culture of compliance and risk management.

    + Stay informed of industry trends and regulatory changes to continuously improve risk management practices and ensure alignment with evolving standards.

    + Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and reports related to audit activities, control evaluations, and compliance activities for internal stakeholders.

    + Contribute to the overall success of the US Technology Regulatory and Controls team by sharing knowledge, mentoring junior team members, and participating in team initiatives

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

    + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

    + 5-10 years of experience in technology.

    + Strong skills in IT audit, controls, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.

    + Knowledge of risk management components, including governance and processes.

    + Professional communication skills for executive and client interactions.

    + Experience in large US banks.

    + Understanding of laws and regulations in financial services.

    + Extensive knowledge of risk management and compliance practices.

    + Strong relationship-building and networking abilities.

    + Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    + Ability to synthesize and communicate complex information effectively.

    + Team-oriented with a focus on accountability.

    + Proficient technical writing and communication skills.

    + Experience in complex engagements within financial institutions or consulting.

    + Critical thinker focused on process efficiency and automation.

    + Escalating matters through one of the appropriate channels identified in the CIBC Code of Conduct (i.e., HR, management, Ethics Hotline, Whistleblower, etc.) upon observing activities that may be inconsistent with CIBC’s policies, frameworks, guidelines, processes, and controls.

    + Speaking up if witnessing behaviors that drive poor or unfair outcomes for clients, team members or other stakeholders.

    + Escalating matters that can result in adverse market practices and outcomes, thereby negatively impacting CIBC’s reputation as a leading financial institution.

    At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 for the Chicago market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
