Summary:

The Associate Counsel serves as a legal generalist providing broad-based legal support across Catholic Health. Under the supervision of the General Counsel, the Associate Counsel is responsible for advising on business transactions, contractual arrangements, corporate real estate, risk management, corporate governance, and corporate compliance matters. This role partners with departments and leaders throughout the System to provide pragmatic legal guidance that promotes operational excellence, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation and mission alignment.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

+ Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

+ Member in good standing of the New York State Bar

EXPERIENCE

+ Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience in healthcare, corporate, or nonprofit law

+ Demonstrated expertise in contract review, transactional matters, and healthcare regulatory compliance

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

+ High degree of emotional intelligence

+ Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across a range of disciplines

+ Excellent research, drafting, analytical, and communication skills

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver clear, business-focused legal advice

+ Proficiency in Microsoft 365; experience with contract lifecycle management systems is a plus
