Job Summary:

As a Part-Time Estes Communications Intern, you will be assigned to either the Sustainability, Creative, Digital Engagement, or Strategic Communications teams. Depending on the team, you will be exposed to various platforms, communication channels (both internal and external), content development and curation, data management, and creative services production. Each Communications Intern will be paired with a mentor who will guide and oversee progress to ensure a successful experience for both the intern and Estes. This is a Part-Time Internship position located primarily at Estes' Richmond HQ.

+ Post content and responses to appropriate social media accounts and/or communications platforms.

+ Effectively interact and communicate with team members and assigned mentor to ensure understanding of requirements for assigned work; ask clarifying questions as needed to ensure accurate and timely results.

+ Understand and follow training instructions and ask for help when needed. Demonstrate strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

+ Provide support, coordination, and administrative activities related to sustainability projects and internal/external communications

+ Provide content curation for digital and print communications campaigns; gather and organize sustainability information and data

+ Generate reports, track communication platform reviews, and complete administrative tasks related to a variety of communication platforms (intranet, digital signage, social media, survey tools, websites, blogs)

+ Track metrics and generate reports related to various digital communications platforms

+ Maintain various content calendars and communications schedules

+ Assist in the production of large-scale internal events; for creative team, assist with graphic design, proofing, videography, photography, and video production

+ Proactively support the team’s needs in executing communication plans and strategies

+ Printing and fulfillment of large-scale printing projects and mailing label list development, as assigned

+ Write and/or proof internal and external communications

+ Regular attendance is required.

Qualifications:

+ High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), and at least 2 years of post-secondary education experience required. Previous coursework in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Communications, Graphic Design, Film, or Public Relations, or related area of study is preferred but not required.

+ Must be able to effectively communicate (verbal, written and listening)

+ Must have experience in at least one of these platforms: Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut, Social Media, Google Analytics, SharePoint

+ Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting

+ Able to work within tight deadlines and efficiently complete assignments while keeping a focus on accuracy and details

+ Creative thinker who has an eye for detail and style

+ Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job

+ Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct

+ Must be able to interact well with others

+ Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting

+ Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities

+ Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines

+ Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check

+ Must be authorized to work in the United States
