    Amazon is building the next generation software, hardware, and processes that will run the global network of fulfillment centers that move many millions of units of inventory, and ensure that customers get what they want when we promise. We do this by building automated solutions to handle things that technology does well, while relying on people to handle things that humans do well. We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery of products and packages which includes building custom hardware and applying robotics, autonomy, supply chain optimization, machine learning, manipulation, image processing, and real-time data processing using distributed systems.

     

    The Tech Transformation (TfX) group within the Global Robotics Delivery organization technically advises and leads innovative solutions that deliver consistent year over year resource efficiency. We are seeking an experienced Systems Development Engineer to spearhead comprehensive utilities assessments (power, compressed air, and network bandwidth) and architect system specifications to enable large-scale deployment of warehouse robotics. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Hardware, Software, Construction, Robotics Maintenance Engineering, and Real Estate, to implement data-driven process improvements.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Perform power, compressed air, and network bandwidth studies at the product- and building-level

    • Create validation procedures to develop subsystem-level utilities demand models for robotics and material handling equipment

    • Identify and analyze utilities consumption anomalies across systems (e.g. power harmonics, air quality issues etc.), then develop appropriate remediation strategies for on-site execution

    • Develop automated scripts to ingest and process utilities data

    • Create data pipelines and dashboards to highlight insights related to warehouse robotic deployments

    • Lead and contribute to technical documentation on utilities consumption and derating

    • Seek consultation from engineering firm to certify or validate technical recommendations

    Basic Qualifications

    - BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or equivalent

    - Knowledge of applicable Codes and Standards

    - Experience with one or more query language (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala)

     

    - Experience with one or more scripting language (e.g., Python, KornShell)

     

    - Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

     

    - Engineer in Training (EIT) in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical & Computer

     

    - Excellent written and oral communication skills

     

    - Ability to cope with ambiguity and work autonomously or with a team to deliver successful solutions

     

    - Ability to travel domestically up to 50%

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical & Computer

     

    - Experience in project or program management

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
