Description

Amazon Devices & Services Proactive Security (ProSec) team ensures Amazon efficiently delivers secure products to delight end customers. We are looking for a Senior software developer to join ProSec leadership team and lead research and development initiatives towards Amazon-wide impact.

You will work with customers (Amazon development and security teams) to understand their pain points, ideate innovative scalable solutions, and own end to end delivery of security tooling and infrastructure. The Amazon Devices and Services have a vast and varied portfolio - from small camera devices to satellites. As a direct result, this role offers opportunities to work on a wide variety of products and associated security initiatives touching hardware, firmware, operating systems, to higher level applications.

You will mentor and partner with a strong group of talented software developers and security engineers. You will be responsible for building the best customer experience, keeping latency, security, and usability in mind.

This is a high visibility and fast-paced environment where you will make a direct impact on the customer experience and the bottom line of the company. We have ambitious goals to build high impact tooling and to delight our customers with great products.

Key job responsibilities

High-level responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

* Gather and analyze business and functional requirements, and translate requirements into technical design specifications.

* Write high-quality, efficient, testable code and recommend improvements in development, maintenance, system standards, and contribute to software documentation.

* Design, develop and deploy medium to large software solutions.

* Be responsible for technical problem solving, meeting product objectives, and developing best practices.

* Serve as an essential technical resource in the full development cycle.

* Mentor junior team members technically.

* Work in an agile development environment.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
