    Lead Day Habilitation Specialist - Day Habilitation Program

Today, we are a leading not-for-profit agency employing 1200+ staff and providing over 70 program sites in Nassau and Suffolk.     We have great opportunities for positive, motivated individuals to work in a day hab setting assisting adults diagnosed with intellectual/developmental disabilities in becoming self-sufficient and self-actualized. Get in on the ground floor and train for an entry level career in the healthcare/education field!

    In this position, you will:

    + Help program participants achieve/exceed their personal goals;

    + Provide structure and emotional support;

    + Assist in resolving behavioral issues;

    + Help people supported with personal hygiene;

    + Complete detailed, accurate documentation

    + Transport the people supported to and from volunteer and pre-vocational activities using Agency vehicles.

    We require:

    + High School Diploma or equivalent required

    + One year experience in OPWDD field required. Two (2) years of experience preferred

    + Complete (within 90 days of hire) and maintain required training in SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention) Restrictive Certification, CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation), First Aird, and AED (Automated External Defibrillator)

    + Obtain (within 180 days of hire) and maintain AMAP (Approved Medication Administration Personnel)

    + The Ability to assist with lifting and transferring a person

    + Ability to communicate and understand in English; both verbally and in writing

    + Clean valid NYS Driver's License

    Schedule:

    Sun 7a-3, Mon 10a-8p, Thurs 11:30-8:30, Fri 12:30-8:30

     

    Salary Range: 21.00-22.00

     

    Some programs/locations may have a differential in addition to the hourly rate.
