    TITLE: Instructor/Fellow

     

    DEPARTMENT: Neurology: Epilepsy

     

    REPORTS TO: Division Chief

    The Department of Neurology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has an opening for a one-year fellowship position (instructor) in the Division of Epilepsy . The position will begin in July 1, 2019.

     

    The goal of t he Epilepsy fellowship is to provide training to neurologist s in the care of patients with epilepsy , and to further the mission and vision of the Epilepsy Program in patient care, research and education. The responsibilities in this second year of epilepsy fellowship will include the following:

     

    Refining skills in pre-surgical evaluations with intracranial electrodes, in patients who implanted with depth electrodes and subdural grids.

     

    + Involve in the mapping of eloquent cortex with electrical stimulation of depth electrodes and subdural grids.

    + Participate in the reading of EEGs at UMH, the PAC, Jackson Memorial Hospital and Jackson South.

    + Responsible for call schedule covering the epilepsy-monitoring unit (EMU) when the first-year fellows are unavailable.

    + Outpatient clinic, which will include a satellite biweekly clinic at Boca Raton.

    + Participate in a research project that should be develop ed with the assistance of one of the epilepsy faculty members. Expected to submit at least an abstract to a national or international meeting.

    + Participate in the teaching of medical students, neurology residents and junior fellows.

     

    Applicants must possess a Medical Degree from an accredited Medical School, Florida Medical License and eligible to take the Board in Neurology and Psychiatry. A previous fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology will be preferred.
