    Chemistry Laboratory Technician

     

    Full-Time in McLean, VA - IML

     

    Genex Systems is looking for Chemistry Laboratory Technician to support the Chemistry Laboratory at the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC) in McLean, VA.

    Position Duties:

    + Assist Research Chemist in conducting standard and specialized testing on concrete, asphalt, and other highway materials.

    + Sample preparation involving, but not limited to

     

    - Preparing sample test tubes for testing according to AASHTO TP 144 and AASHTO T 416

     

    - Preparing samples for XRD, XRF and ICP analysis

     

    - Preparation of SEM samples, including sectioning concrete/mortar specimens and performing epoxy impregnation

     

    - Crushing and sieving aggregates

     

    + Calibration of instruments, including preparation of calibration standards

    + Data collection using analytical techniques such as ICP, TGA, PSD

    + Maintain the laboratory in a clean and safe condition.

    Required Qualifications:

    + Associate degree in chemistry or related field

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Knowledge of standard wet chemistry laboratory techniques.

    + Familiarity with ICP analysis is desired.

    + Ability to perform physical work such as moving heavy gas cylinders.

    + Basic computer skills (word processing and spreadsheets) for purposes of

     

    data compilation.
