Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In this Contract-to-permanent position, you will play a key role in managing and processing payroll operations accurately and efficiently. This role is ideal for someone with expertise in payroll functions and accounting software systems, who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Process weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payrolls for a workforce exceeding 500 employees, including unionized staff.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
• Utilize accounting software systems such as New World Systems and Microsoft Excel to manage payroll data and reports.
• Oversee benefit-related payroll functions, ensuring proper deductions and contributions.
• Conduct audits of payroll records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Collaborate with the HR team to address payroll-related inquiries and issues.
• Maintain up-to-date records of employee earnings, deductions, and tax information.
• Assist in the implementation and optimization of payroll systems to improve efficiency.
• Generate detailed payroll reports for management review and decision-making. Requirements • Proven experience in payroll processing for large organizations, including handling union payrolls.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems, with familiarity in New World Systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing benefit-related payroll functions and deductions.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for auditing and resolving payroll discrepancies.
• Ability to work efficiently under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with HR and other departments.
