Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Grant Accountant to oversee the financial management and compliance of federal, state, and private grants. This role is vital in maintaining the accuracy of financial records, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and supporting the organization’s broader financial reporting objectives. Based in Waianae, Hawaii, this position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial stability and transparency of a healthcare-focused organization. Responsibilities:

• Monitor grant budgets and contracts to ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements.

• Reconcile grants receivable and deferred revenue accounts while maintaining precise operational data.

• Prepare and assist in the creation of financial reports, billing documents, and federal drawdown requests.

• Maintain and update the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards to meet reporting requirements.

• Review accounts payable claims for accuracy and monitor unclaimed payments to ensure regulatory compliance.

• Implement and enforce internal controls to uphold compliance with financial and regulatory standards.

• Assist with month-end closings, account reconciliations, financial audits, and the preparation of relevant documentation.

• Develop and refine policies and procedures to enhance grant compliance and operational efficiency.

• Create audit work papers and provide support during audit processes.

• Collaborate with leadership to address reporting needs, resolve issues, and improve financial practices.

Requirements • Proficiency in accounting software systems such as Sage Intacct.

• In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and private grant accounting and management requirements.

• Strong skills in preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and managing deferred revenue.

• Experience with Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and other government funding mechanisms.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.

• Ability to develop audit schedules and support compliance audits effectively.

• Expertise in month-end close activities and financial documentation.

• Strong analytical and organizational skills, coupled with the ability to collaborate across departments.
