Job Summary
This position entails performance and management of technical tasks in a research laboratory. Duties may include preparation of oceanographic sample material, chemical analysis, purchasing of scientific supplies and equipment, sample collection at sea, data analysis and assistance in laboratory finances.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Performs chemical analysis for research or client-based purposes
+ Communicates findings by compiling, analyzing, and interpreting scientific data
+ Maintains inventory of scientific equipment in the laboratory and makes necessary purchases for scientific equipment
+ Assists students in chemical analyses as needed. Participates in preparation and/or execution of sample collection for oceanographic field work.
+ Assists in laboratory financial work such as compiling receipts and assessing budgets.
+ Adheres to University and department policies, procedures and regulations.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in marine science, chemistry or a related field.

Work experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory.
