    Job Description

    Design and develop new products from concept creation to launch. Evaluate new and alternative raw materials. Design and conduct experiments and/or trials to verify product performance. Prepare and support product testing plans, draft technical protocols and reports, including data analysis and conclusions. Develop accurate and complete specifications for new products. Conduct material and process changes to existing products by following change control processes. Follow and participate actively in the phase gate system for new product development activities. Provide assigned deliverables for the phase gate system. Generate invention disclosures for new concept designs. Provide technical support to Sales, Operations, and Quality for product qualifications, process improvement programs, testing, and training. Utilize polymer science and engineering principles to solve product challenges. Design new and/or modify existing test methods and ensure accuracy. Track product changes over the product lifetime and maintain design history files. Ensure timely completion of product design and development projects with priorities established and agreed upon with the PE&PD Manager. Ensure 5S in the PE&PD Lab.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in process development, plastic, and polymer science.

    + Proficiency in thermoplastic processing.

    + Experience with polymer testing and processing equipment (e.g., compounding, extrusion).

    + 1-5 years of relevant industrial product development experience.

    + B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science/Engineering, or Material Science and Engineering.

    + Minimum GPA of 3.0 in STEM courses.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in medical device product development is beneficial.

    Work Environment

    Work within a chemical/plastics manufacturing environment with approximately 160 people on-site, including 30 engineers and 2 in R&D and Product Development. The position is 100% onsite in Commerce, CA, in a facility that manufactures high-quality plastic film for the medical device industry.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
