    Job Title: Sr Electrical EngineerJob Description

     

    This position is responsible for leading and designing the electrical power distribution network for the auxiliary equipment of Gas Turbine projects. The focus will primarily be on low-voltage systems (600V and below), incorporating equipment such as MCCs, LV Transformers, DC Systems, and Batteries.

    Responsibilities

    + Contribute to proposals based on expressed customer needs.

    + Design solutions that comply with code requirements and customer specifications.

    + Utilize SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) to design the electrical power distribution network as a database, developing single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical loads lists, motors lists, feeder schematics, master cable schedules, and master terminations schedules.

    + Utilize SmartPlant 3D (S3D) to design the electrical power distribution system, developing power system plans, lighting plans, electrical room layouts, elevation drawings, conduit/cable tray arrangements, and hazardous area classifications.

    + Perform calculations, sizing of equipment (i.e., breakers, overload devices, etc.), sizing of cables/conduits/equipment spacing, illumination level calculations, and maintaining bill of materials.

    + Prepare purchase specifications and select vendors to construct electrical packages.

    + Develop and incorporate hazardous area classification requirements, power and control schematics, wire and cable specifications, load lists, and maintain comprehensive cable schedules and electrical equipment schedules.

    + Select and specify CTs, VTs, Protective Relays, Motor Controls, Power Supplies, and DC backup systems.

    + Specify proper testing procedures per industry standards and customer requirements.

    + Establish and document standard design processes and products.

    + Simplify product designs for improved manufacturability and cost reduction without compromising quality and function.

    + Assist Sales and Marketing and Development Engineering with projects to enhance existing and develop new products.

    + Coordinate and manage projects of all sizes with minimal supervision.

    + Interface with purchasing and vendors in the modification and approval of component parts and assemblies.

    + Meet regularly with vendors to ensure technical and schedule requirements are met.

    + Interpret and respond to technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel.

    + Interpret and integrate design requirements from the parent company.

    + Develop processes and procedures to optimize resource use while providing high-quality design packages.

    + Establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformance and improve quality.

    + Follow up and resolve pending items during or after project execution up to the expiration of the warranty period.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor Degree (BA) in Electrical Engineering required.

    + Minimum five (5) years of technical and/or practical experience in industrial facility power distribution design (up to 600VAC and 220VDC).

    + Targeting seven (7) years of professional experience focused on the design of electrical systems.

    + Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

    + Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

    + Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    + Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, thermodynamics, and trigonometry.

    + Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    + Fluent in MS Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Acrobat Writer, Excel, etc.).

    + Significant expertise in SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) and SmartPlant 3D (S3D) is a plus.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Past experience/expertise with SmartSketch is a plus.

    + Inclination towards computer programming languages is highly encouraged.

    + Knowledge of database, project management, graphics, technical diagrams, and flow charts.

    Work Environment

    This position is located in the office in Lake Mary, FL, with the ability to work a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely. The candidate must be local.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $145000.00/yr.
