Job Title: Engineering TechnicianJob Description
The Engineering Technician is responsible for maintaining manufacturing processes and operations for existing composite aerospace products and assemblies. This role includes ensuring quality products are produced efficiently and at minimum cost, under the guidance of the lead engineer or value stream manager. The technician will also estimate manufacturing costs, establish time standards, and recommend tooling and process requirements for new and existing products. Acting as a liaison with customers, both internal and external, the technician will aid in releasing new processes and support efficient manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
+ Serve as the technical engineering lead for Material Review Board (MRB) activities within assigned production programs.
+ Review parts and nonconformance documentation to validate conditions and define resolutions.
+ Engage in daily interactions with lead engineering and production leads to establish clear communication and define technical tasks.
+ Perform program tasks as directed by the engineering lead or Value Stream Manager.
+ Seek guidance from engineering lead or Director of Engineering for MRB part dispositioning and modification of rework instructions.
+ Monitor production processes through statistical process control (SPC) and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs).
+ Provide root cause analysis and corrective actions for out-of-control processes in support of AS9100 and NADCAP requirements.
Essential Skills
+ Troubleshooting and engineering skills, including MRB, schematic, and blueprint interpretation.
+ Actively pursuing or holding a degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering.
+ Experience in manufacturing engineering within a manufacturing environment, with exposure to composite materials.
+ Self-starter with excellent time management and objective-setting skills.
+ Ability to document processes and support Engineering Change notices effectively.
+ Capability to function both independently and as part of a team.
+ Technical decision-making skills, supported by data analysis.
+ Knowledge of data acquisition systems for recording temperature, position, and pressure.
+ Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Previous internship experience with an aerospace composite molding manufacturer in an engineering role.
+ Experience with NADCAP quality management system requirements for composite molding and bonding.
+ Familiarity with Minitab, Made to Manage or other ERP systems, and ply nesting software such as Cutworks, Patternsmith, or NS2.
Work Environment
The work environment involves a dynamic setting where demands and priorities may change based on customer requests. The technician will work closely with both engineering and production teams, utilizing various technologies and equipment related to composite aerospace manufacturing. The role requires adherence to a corporate Quality Management System, and the ability to manage multiple duties while setting priorities and following tasks to completion.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
