Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to develop layout concepts, parameters, and designs for new and existing product redesigns. The role involves using mathematics, statistics, dynamics, and other engineering disciplines for calculations and evaluation of alternatives for current product designs and their functionality. The engineer will perform analysis to ensure products meet performance and reliability requirements, conduct feasibility studies, and prepare preliminary cost estimates for designs and redesigns. Additionally, the engineer will assist in generating detailed specifications for new designs and replacement components for end-of-life and cost reduction projects, and communicate with vendors to develop specifications for components and processes.
Responsibilities
+ Develop layout concepts, parameters, and designs for new and existing product redesigns.
+ Use mathematics, statistics, dynamics, and other engineering disciplines for calculations and evaluation of current product design alternatives.
+ Perform analysis to ensure meeting product performance and reliability requirements.
+ Conduct feasibility studies and prepare preliminary cost estimates for designs and redesigns.
+ Assist in generating detailed specifications for new design components and replacement components in end-of-life and cost reduction projects.
+ Communicate with vendors to develop specifications for components and processes.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in analog and digital design, particularly in LED lighting and industrial audio industries.
+ Expertise in printed circuit board design, including schematic and layout, using Cadence OrCAD X Professional for new designs and OrCAD 16.0 and 16.6 for legacy designs.
+ Strong mentoring skills.
+ Ability to manage 3-4 projects concurrently.
+ Proficiency in working within a cross-functional team environment.
+ Hands-on lab and PCBA soldering skills.
+ Microcontroller programming experience with software such as MPLAB X IDE, Microchip MPLAB X IPE, Renesas e2 Studio, Renesas Flash Programmer, STM32CubeMX, and STM32CubeProgrammer.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in switch mode AC power supply design.
+ Knowledge in electronics cooling and thermal management of PCBAs.
+ Understanding of optics and acoustics.
+ Working knowledge of transformer and coil design.
+ Familiarity with designing electronics to UL, CSA, and IEC standards for safety and performance.
+ Understanding of designing electronics to meet EMC standards for CE product certification.
+ Proficiency with Audacity audio file editing software.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
