    Water Resources Engineer

    Description

    We are looking to hire a Water Resources Engineer. This individual will be working with Lead Project Managers working on municipal and other public work projects. Client is able to have this opportunity to be a Project Management position or strictly a "production" role. Because of this, candidates do not need to be a PE - however, if the candidate wants to be a Project Manager they will need to have their PE (or be willing to pursue their PE).

    Position Summary:

    The ideal candidate will have strong experience in stormwater design, drainage design, water distribution systems design, and wastewater collection systems design. This role requires a degree in civil engineering (or a related field), an Engineer Intern (EI) certification (passed the FE exam), and 4+ years of experience in water resources engineering.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Stormwater Management:

     

    - Design and implement stormwater management systems to control runoff, reduce erosion, and prevent pollutants from entering waterways.

     

    - Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analyses to support stormwater management designs.

     

    - Develop erosion and sediment control plans.

     

    2. Drainage Design:

     

    - Plan and design drainage systems to manage surface water and prevent flooding.

     

    - Perform hydraulic modeling to optimize drainage system performance.

     

    - Prepare detailed site and grading plans.

     

    3. Water Distribution Systems:

     

    - Design water distribution systems, including pipelines, reservoirs, and pumping stations.

     

    - Conduct hydraulic modeling to ensure efficient water distribution.

     

    - Develop plans and specifications for water infrastructure projects.

     

    4. Project Management:

     

    - Manage water resources projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

     

    - Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project requirements are met.

     

    - Prepare project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.

     

    5. Regulatory Compliance:

     

    - Ensure all water resources projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.

     

    - Obtain necessary permits and approvals for project implementation.

     

    - Conduct environmental impact assessments and develop mitigation strategies.

     

    6. Technical Documentation:

     

    - Prepare engineering reports, technical memoranda, and design documentation.

     

    - Develop and review construction drawings and specifications.

     

    - Perform quality control and quality assurance on project deliverables.

     

    7. Client and Stakeholder Communication:

     

    - Engage with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to communicate project plans and address concerns.

     

    - Participate in public presentations and speaking engagements to explain project details and benefits.

     

    8. Field Work and Inspections:

     

    - Conduct site visits and field inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.

     

    - Provide guidance and oversight to construction inspectors and assist with job site inspections as needed.

    - Indianapolis International Airport

     

    - Indianapolis DPW

     

    - City of Greenwood

     

    - Multiple trail projects

    - Multiple storm master plans

    The company recently won a large Program Management project with CEG (Citizens). This is a 5-year project for $522million that will be in Lebanon, IN. This project will be increasing water capacity in the area by 25 million gallons per day. They will also have some design work and inspection work that comes from this project.

     

    This is a first shift position and the company has flex time (start sometime between 7AM-9AM) and the person will typically work 40-50 hours a week.

    Pay Range:

    $90,000 - $150,000 Depending on experience

     

    Must Have Skills

     

    + Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering or a related field

    + EI certification

    + 4+ years experience in water resources engineering

    + Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and other industry-standard software

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    Preferred Skills:

    - Experience with hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM).

     

    - Knowledge of GIS and other spatial analysis tools.

     

    - Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes.

     

    - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

     

    - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

     

    - Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

     

    - Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $72.11/hr.
