    Electrical Engineer

    Job Description

    This senior position involves a critical role in researching, designing, developing, and testing electronic components for the next generation of underwater acoustics systems. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with other departments to transform concepts into fully functional designs, ensuring all components meet performance, reliability, and regulatory standards.

    Responsibilities

    + Provide technical leadership in resolving complex design and troubleshooting challenges.

    + Transform concepts into fully functional designs based on specification requirements, incorporating input from customers and collaborating with engineers across multiple disciplines.

    + Design analog and digital circuits to support acoustic navigation and location devices.

    + Design and develop schematics and PCB layouts for components like sensors, microcontrollers, power supplies, amplifiers, FPGAs, and communication interfaces.

    + Integrate FPGAs and other programmable devices into system designs.

    + Conduct design analysis and create circuit-level tests to validate designs, including thermal effects and power dissipation.

    + Develop or specify test methods and associated test equipment to verify board functionality.

    + Identify tasks related to ongoing projects and estimate the required resources, including labor, to achieve project objectives.

    + Prepare and present design reviews, including PDR (Preliminary Design Review) and CDR (Critical Design Review) activities, to ensure designs meet all specifications and customer requirements.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in PCB design, digital and analog design, and use of Altium or similar software.

    + Experience with full life cycle development and test development.

    + Strong understanding of circuit design, with a focus on 40% Analog and 60% Digital Design (flexible ratio).

    + Familiarity with Microsoft 365.

    + Experience with FPGA design and integration.

    + Proficiency in tools like SolidWorks, MATLAB, LabVIEW, and RTL Code.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

    + Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

    + Experience in conducting design reviews.

    Work Environment

    The work environment is very collaborative, requiring candidates to work well in a team setting. The office is located five minutes from the beach and downtown Santa Barbara, offering a beautiful and inspiring work location.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $220000.00/yr.

     

    Benefits include medical, dental and vision, life insurance, paid vacation and sick time, 3% 401K contribution (no matching required), company events.

    This is a fully onsite position in Santa Barbara,CA.
