    GRHS is seeking candidates for the position of Health Aide for Operation New Hope. This will be a new unit at Georgia Regional Hospital, Savannah and will be an inpatient unit of up to 30 individuals. This position may require driving a state vehicle as part of the duties. A Motor Vehicle Report may be completed as part of the pre-employment requirements. This is a 12-hour unit with available shifts: 7:00am - 7:30pm and 7:00pm - 7:30am.

     

    FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE BACKGROUND CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.

    Job Description

    Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

    + Utilizes all appropriate security and safety precautions according to established guidelines

    + Provides basic patient care and works with individuals in a mental health setting to develop daily living skills

    + Completes required documentation in patient and unit records

    + Takes vital signs as needed and documents accordingly in the Electronic Medical Record

    + Ensures safety and security of individuals

    + Observes and documents patient data, behavior, and activity

    + Prepares individuals for treatments or examinations

    + Transports and/or accompanies individuals to treatment units

    + May assist with bathing or activities of daily living

    + + May be required to drive long distances for placement, appointments, visits for the individuals

    + Escorts individuals to appointments, such as doctors' visits, leisure/ recreational activities and discharges, as necessary

     

    Preferred Skills/Qualifications

    Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience:

    + High School Diploma or GED and a valid Driver’s License from the state in which candidate resides

    + Some direct care experience preferably in Mental Health.

    + Must have a clear MVR record and meet the Policy requirements for operating a State-owned vehicle: must be 21 years of age and have a minimum of 3 years driving experience.
