The pay range is $128,000.00 - $231,000.00

As a Senior Engineering Manager of our Guest Facing Device Engineering team you will:
Lead a talented team of engineers responsible for Target’s in-store Point of Sale infrastructure. As a Senior Engineering Manager you’ll partner with Application, Infrastructure, Business, and external supplier teams to deliver Target’s Point of Sale experience. You will own, support, and help set the direction for hundreds of thousands of devices that directly impact our guests and team members. You will help our engineers grow and develop in their roles and in their career.

Technology:
+ Open source operating systems (Ubuntu)
+ Massive scale and scope. Hardware deployments across 2000 distributed locations with 400,000+ devices under management
+ Software development in Java (Spring), Python, Go, React
+ API development for web and vendor specific Java SDKs
+ Bare metal image development and deployment using enterprise tools
+ x86 based architecture, embedded devices, peripherals
+ Metrics visualization with tools like Grafana and Domo
+ Planning, collaboration, and source control tools like Jira, Confluence, Git, Artifactory, Copilot
About you:
+ 4 year degree or equivalent experience
+ 5 - 10+ years of Infrastructure Experience, with 3+ years leading a team
+ Demonstrates strong knowledge of Agile methodology and Project Management skills
+ Demonstrates strong written and oral communication abilities
+ Demonstrates strong knowledge of end user devices and Linux based operating systems
+ Demonstrates strong knowledge of Java, Golang and Python based application development
+ Experience utilizing CI/CD technologies (Git,Jenkins/Drone)
+ Experience implementing and executing Software Deployment Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices
+ Experience with config management for large scale end user device deployments
+ Experience in strategic and cross-functional leadership, planning, and execution
+ Resolves routine and non-routine partner prioritization activities with minimal assistance
+ Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities
+ Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
+ Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
Preferred Skill Sets:
+ Demonstrates experience with vendor contracting processes (RFI/RFP, Hardware procurement, Contract Management)
+ Experience managing large scale enterprise hardware fleets
+ Experience developing and deploying bare metal software images, and firmware at scale
+ Experience with Generative LLMs and other AI models, especially running on/near endpoint devices
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
