This position will have remote and hybrid workplace options available but will still be required to report to the listed address at least two(2) days per week and at the discretion of the supervisor and based on business need .

The Office of Government, Policy and Public Relations (GPPR) is CDLE’s in-house Communications, policy,
and creative team made up of a diverse group of individuals. We advance CDLE’s external communications
to our customers and stakeholders through public relations and community outreach, marketing, print and
web design, policy, research, and government affairs. Our daily work consists of helping CDLE establish and
maintain lines of communication and understanding between the Department and its various “publics,”
including the Legislature, the Governor, the press, and the citizens of Colorado. We support CDLE’s
employee engagement through innovative and fun employee communication channels that promote
employee events, activities and initiatives.
This position will be dedicated to the Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) Division, one of the
newest additions to CDLE. GPPR supports the FAMLI Division through policy development and strategic
communications as it does for the Department’s seven other divisions and four special offices.
As a strategic communications specialist within the FAMLI Division, this position is responsible for developing
communication plans and collateral across internal, external, and marketing initiatives related to Division
goals. You will join a FAMLI Communications Team responsible for all of the Division’s communications and
community engagement tactics, including but not limited to:
? social media management
? internal awareness, collaboration, and engagement
? monthly newsletter production and distribution to FAMLI’s key external audiences
? dedicated presentations to private groups
? community and industry event coordination
? coordination of speaking engagements
? production and management of public service announcement campaign
This position works closely with two additional communications specialists for the FAMLI Division and reports
to the FAMLI Communications Manager within GPPR.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only:
Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position: Experience must include direct internal communications experience for government agency, non-profit, higher education, or private sector organization
OR
Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years
A Bachelors degree in Communications, public relations, journalism, creative writing, or related field will substitute for four(4) years; e xperience must include direct internal communications experience for government agency, non-profit, higher education, or private sector organization
Required Competencies:
+ Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences through engaging content.
+ Editing: Concise and error-free writing, detailed proof-reading, and rapid editing tailored to audience needs.
+ Market research: Knowledge of the processes, techniques, and frameworks for audience analytics and the development of marketing strategies.
+ Problem Solving: Takes initiative to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options, consider alternative solutions, distinguish between relevant and
irrelevant information, and use sound reasoning to arrive at data-driven decisions.
+ Approach work with a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset.
+ Organization and Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
+ Analytical Skills: Ability to monitor and interpret website and social media analytics to inform engagement strategies.
