Mid Level Civil/Structural Overhead Transmission Line Engineer
Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Mid Level Transmission Line Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Line Department in our Fort Lauderdale, Florida office.
Roles and Responsibilities
+ Prepare and review engineering deliverables in support of overhead transmission line projects:
+ PLS-CADD model
+ PLS-POLE models
+ Project design criteria
+ Steel pole loading calculations and drawings
+ Engineering drawings and specifications
+ Foundation designs and drawings
+ Bill of materials
+ Provide mentorship and guidance to others. Perform detailed engineering reviews of the work submitted by others
+ Coordinate regularly with the Project Engineer to ensure project scope, budget, and quality expectations are met
Required Education/Experience:
+ Civil (BSCE) degree, from an accredited university
+ Engineer in Training (EIT) registration is required
+ The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to communicate effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
+ Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite
Desired Education/Experience:
+ Experience in the design of overhead High Voltage and Extra High Voltage transmission lines including route selection, conductor, OHGW and OPGW selection, line and structure spotting, structure design and analysis, foundation design and analysis, procurement specification development and development of construction bid packages
+ PLS-CADD / PLS-POLE experience
+ Foundation design experience using industry software (RISA, L-PILE, FAD etc.)
+ Two (2) or more years' experience in transmission line design as outlined above
+ Professional Engineering license (PE) strongly preferred
+ Masters Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering a plus
+ Distribution/underbuild design experience is a plus
+ Managerial and leadership skills a plus
