Who We Are
The Marketing Technology team is responsible for building Wayfair's class leading, data centric technology platform that optimizes and powers all of Wayfair's advertising. It touches hundreds of millions of consumers and drives billions of dollars in annual revenue. Our platforms allow us to scale our marketing efforts efficiently by automating key processes, interacting with ad platforms such as Google, Meta, Pinterest & others in real time and leveraging hundreds of terabytes of data and ML algorithms for optimization and effective decision making on millions of items in our catalog.
The types of systems built by this team range from low latency REST and GraphQL APIs, to streaming systems processing billions of daily events in real time to large scale batch systems. This role provides a great opportunity for strong engineers to act as a hands on tech lead for a small team, working independently to build a brand new system to solve an exciting business problem.
What You'll Do
+ Drive the design and architecture of high impact systems
+ Implement robust, well-tested services and systems. Provide technical design and code reviews for peers within your team and across the broader org.
+ Act as the technical lead, working closely with cross functional partners and product managers.
+ Ensure effective support
+ Manage, mentor and coach a small number ( one or two) of junior engineers
+ Promote a culture of engineering excellence
+ Use significant depth and breadth of technical expertise to ensure platforms being built are scalable, maintainable and extensible.
+ Own all aspect of effective, iterative delivery of features
We’re A Match Because You Have
+ B.S. or equivalent experience in computer science/related field
+ 10+ years of experience in software engineering and designing systems at scale.
+ Experience with Cloud Native architectures
+ Experience with Continuous Integration (CI/CD) practices and tools (Buildkite, Jenkins, etc.).
+ Experience leveraging monitoring and logging technologies (e.g. DataDog).
+ Track-record of being a hands-on developer, building technically sound systems.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Experience mentoring engineers and leading code reviews. Proficient in effective troubleshooting and issue resolution techniques.
+ Experience building large scale Java based systems, relational and KV datastores and messaging systems
+ Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders alike
