What You Will Achieve

In your role, you'll work as a part of Pfizer Vaccine Research and Development, which seeks to discover novel vaccines (prophylactic and therapeutic) for the prevention and treatment of significant human diseases (e.g., infectious diseases, oncology) using a variety of vaccine technology platforms combined with immunomodulatory agents.

Your strong foundation in general scientific practice, its principles and concepts will help in meeting critical deadlines. You will be relied on as a technical contributor to assess the assigned tasks and make decisions that involve direct application of your knowledge.You will perform diverse fermentation and purification experiments required to optimize the production of vaccine candidates using broad range of novel techniques. You will also perform analysis and characterization of isolated macromolecules with various bioanalytical methodologies. Additionally, you will also be required to work irregular hours as necessary.

How You Will Achieve It
+ Apply technical skills to complete assigned work within own work group/project team.
+ Assist with screening microbial serotype candidates using high throughput fermentation systems
+ Setup and safely operate lab process scale fermenters and purification equipment as assigned
+ Assist in optimization and scale-up of fermentation processes as assigned
+ Assist in development , optimization, and scale-up of recovery/purification processes for isolation of vaccine candidates up to pilot plant scale
+ Assist in process transfer to manufacturing group as necessary
+ Present problems and propose solutions in discussion with group members.
+ Offers insights based on experience to group members to help solve problems
+ Collaborate with colleagues towards introduction of new technologies to improve and accelerate process development and improve process efficiency
+ Maintain an organized and clean laboratory space, maintain a rotating stock of supplies
+ Independently analyze, interpret, and provide conclusions and present experimental data
+ Present periodic status updates to the group. Prepare technical reports, as needed
+ Communicate daily work in an organized lab notebook, such as Signals
+ Work closely with a team and communicate effectively to meet schedules and deadlines.
+ Execute analyses to characterize products.
+ Assist in developing new assays and adapt existing assays to new materials.
+ Discuss analytical issues with team members to help advance objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must-Have
+ BS in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline with minimum 5 years or MS degree with 3 years of relevant experience
+ Proficiency in Microsoft systems such as Office suite, Outlook, etc..
+ Good working knowledge Python, Java, MATLAB, JMP, etc..
+ Knowledge and ability to independently design, plan, and execute assigned fermentation and purification/recovery experiments
+ Desired good working knowledge of unit operations in upstream and downstream processing: Cell banking, fermentation, batch and continuous centrifugation, ultra/diafiltration, and chromatographic techniques.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Nice-to-Have
+ Ability to work independently and in teams.
+ Any related laboratory experience
+ Proficiency and ability to utilize various techniques such as bioanalyzer, FPLC / HPLC, SEC-MALS, SDS-PAGE, UV-Vis, etc..
+ Independently analyze and provide conclusions regarding experimental data generated.

Work Location Assignment: On Premise
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $77,100.00 to $128,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
