The Vice President and General Manager - Tactical Solutions (TS) will lead BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) TS Strategic Business Unit (SBU) which includes responsibility for business performance, strategy development and execution, technology investments and advancements, and new business development activities to satisfy the objectives and goals of the operating and strategic plans of BAE Systems, Inc. - SMS.
TS delivers mission system solutions across a broad portfolio of technologies and programs, including, specialized RF, electro-optical and IR technologies to the warfighter. Our systems enhance the performance of various tactical military platforms.
The Tactical Solutions Strategic Business Unit delivers mission system solutions, from specialized antennas to electro-optical technologies, to the warfighter. Our systems enhance the performance of various military platforms, from aircraft and land vehicles to ships and satellites, and give warfighters the advantage they need to take action, identify targets and defend against evolving threats.
What You ll Do:
+ Serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT); ability to demonstrate a First Team mindset- prioritizing support of fellow leaders as top priority. Building trusting relationships with the ELT as a top leadership priority.
+ Lead successful execution of the Tactical Solutions business portfolio, delivering profitable growth and efficient operations.
+ Drive organic growth of Tactical Solutions business through development and implementation of growth strategies aligned with the SMS strategic plan.
+ Partner with Tactical Solutions customers and stakeholders to achieve mission priorities and define next generation architectures.
+ Lead a team of professionals fostering engagement within an inclusive work environment.
+ Actively support and grow culture of collaboration, inclusion, transparency and integrity.
+ Lead the professional development of the Tactical Solutions staff and provide appropriate growth opportunities and mentoring.
+ Guide high priority business pursuits from assessment through proposal. Provide overall direction for all aspects of the pursuit, capture and proposal execution.
+ Work collaboratively with the SMS Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and Strategic Capability Units (SCUs) to achieve business objectives across organizations in alignment with the Strategic Plan.
+ Participate in the development and execution of the strategic plan; including analysis, and decision making for expansion and growth.
+ Ensure that all business is conducted using the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws, statutes, regulations, company directives; live BAE's core values of uncompromising integrity, being close to its customers, behaving like owners, focusing on attention to detail, and being innovative.
+ Collaborate with BAE Systems, Inc. executives to maximize business growth and performance across the corporation.
+ Perform such individual assignments as directed; and maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
+ Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
+ Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
+ Perform other duties as necessary.
**On-Site Work Environment:** This position requires regular in-person engagement by working **four days each normally scheduled week** in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
+ Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
**Short-Term Incentive:** Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
**Long-Term Incentive:** Subject to business and individual performance, and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in a long-term incentive compensation plan.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ BS/BA in related field plus 15 years or more related experience.
+ Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
+ A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
+ 10 years of experiencing working with US Government contracting or related organizations.
+ A solid understanding of Tactical Solutions mission and operations with relevant industry and government relationships.
+ Ability to effectively interact with customers and governmental figures at the highest levels.
+ Excellent communication skills to support interfaces with all levels of the organization.
