    In order to responsibly execute on Equitable’s growth strategy launched in May 2023 at Investor Day, Risk Management has been charged with reorienting its risk philosophy to become a strategic enabler of growth, whilst being cognizant of the risks of the company and protecting our balance sheet.

     

    The Financial Risk Director role will be a critical part of the Financial Risk Management Team, reporting directly to the Head of Financial Risk. This role is critical for developing, implementing and maintaining risk management frameworks that protect the company’s financial health and strategic objectives.

     

    This role will support financial oversight across credit, investment, balance sheet, liquidity, hedging, ALM and strategic transactions. It offers a unique opportunity to support the strategy of our company, which experiences rapid and positive changes.

    This role offers the opportunity to:

    + Be a strategic team player with exposure to top management, business line leaders and other leaders within the organization.

    + Help inform the strategic direction of the enterprise through the provision of risk-based insights.

     

    Key Job Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    + Support all areas of the Financial Risk function, including:

    + Balance sheet oversight

    + Credit and investment Risk

    + Hedging and ALM

    + Strategic transactions to optimize capital, liquidity, value and/or earnings

    + Help monitor adequacy of the balance sheet, its potential vulnerabilities, and opportunities to enhance our risk profile.

    + Support the preparation of reporting to the Board and Management Committee

    + Support the company strategy by providing technical insight into evolutions of current and potential new markets and transaction implementation.

    + Continuously seek opportunities to enhance processes within risk management.

    + Help equip our business partners with sufficient knowledge of the risk framework so that risk is incorporated into their decision-making process.

    **In Office Schedule:** This role will be working in office a minimum of 2-3 days per week.

     

    The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    + Bachelors Degree

    + 5 years of professional experience in risk or finance at an insurance company or consulting firm.

    + Established knowledge of financial risk management principles and practices.

    + Expertise in credit and/or financial risk management or hedging preferred.

    + Ability to lead complex “special projects” that may require de novo intellectual capital development.

    + Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

    Skills

    **Decision Making and Critical Thinking:** Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

    **Effective Communications:** Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

    **Financial Analysis:** Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.

    **Results Orientation:** Knowledge of the importance of meeting or exceeding established targets; ability to drive critical activities to completion.

    **Strategic Thinking:** Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
