    JOB SUMMARY

    The Transmission Analyst / Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely support to the Technical and Shared Services organization and OpCo Power Delivery groups. This position reports to the OBSS Business Process and Innovation – Application Solutions department. The Application Solutions department specializes in delivering superior software technology, tools and processes for design and engineering analysis.

     

    The Transmission Analyst / Engineer position is part of a team who function as the primary point of contact for Transmission users on their engineering, design and analysis tools. This position will serve as the lead developer and administrator for several key technology tools. This individual must leverage in-depth knowledge of the business to drive solutions, perform routine software troubleshooting, develop configuration upgrades to better align technology solutions, and ensure consistent and optimized technology solutions across the Transmission and Power Delivery organizations. Some travel may be required.

    PRIMARY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Transmission Analyst / Engineer role encompasses a variety of duties and responsibilities aimed at ensuring accurate, technical and timely support to our customers. These include but are not limited to:

     

    + Serving as a primary contact within BP&I Application Solutions for defined technical solutions.

    + Administering, configuring and developing technical solutions to support business unit needs.

    + Ensuring critical transmission data is maintained and backed up appropriately.

    + Providing daily end-user support for users throughout the Technical Shared Services and OpCo Power Delivery groups, via electronic, phone, MS TEAMS, and in-person methods.

    + Utilizing a service management system to track and respond to user issues, as well as capturing solutions for future benefit.

    + Interfacing regularly with the SoCo Technology Organization, software vendors, and third-party suppliers regarding software applications.

    + Coordinating and/or providing training as needed for internal and external business unit users, including the development of training materials and user guides.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Technology, or related technical field/discipline with 3 + years of Transmission / Power Delivery and application experience is highly preferred. Associates degree or high school diploma / equivalent with 10+ years of Transmission / Power Delivery and application development experience is acceptable.

    Experience:

    + Experience working in a fast paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.

    + Work experience within Utility Transmission and/or Power Delivery organizations.

    + Proficient in application development using common software languages, namely C#, C++, PowerShell and JavaScript.

    + Proficient with Software Development Frameworks, specifically .NET 8 or later versions.

    + Work experience with servers, namely application and database servers. For database servers, experience with the Microsoft SQL Server, Firebird, or Oracle is highly preferred. Experience with Linux operating system is also a plus.

    + Work experience with the Microsoft Developer Suite, preferably Microsoft Visual Studio.

    + Familiarity with desktop user interface development.
