Job Summary

The CRC-Assistant or CRC-Technician will be working on a clinical research study within the Department of Anesthesiology that is part of the Neuroscience Division. This position will conduct standardized data collection from patients age 70 and older and family caregivers during in-person and phone interviews. Interviews will include daily delirium assessments for the entire hospitalization (including weekends), including extensive discharge interviews. One-month follow-up interviews with patients and family members will be conducted over the telephone.

Responsibilities*

+ Complete standardized baseline interviews and assessments, in-person and via telephone to patients and family caregivers (training provided).Ensure timely data entry into RedCap database.

+ Manage study database including data cleaning and query completion as needed.

+ Identifying and documenting protocol deviations and adverse event reporting.

+ Work independently with minimal supervision to maintain and preserve study blinding.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

Required Qualifications (CRC Technician):

+ Associate Degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is necessary.

+ Minimum 1 year of directly related experience in clinical research and clinical trials is necessary. (Please review SoCRAs Definition of a Clinical Research Professional for qualifying experience prior to applying.) or An advanced degree in a health-related areas such as: Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Public Health, Health Care Administration, Clinical Research Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Epidemiology, Foreign MD. Or Minimum 3 years of human subject experience (clinical, lab or health regulations) such as related patient care, related community health and wellness, related clinical information, and research.

Desired Qualifications*

+ Bachelors degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is desirable.

+ An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures is desirable.

+ Flexible weekly schedule, which will include weekends.

+ Experience working with older patient populations and their families.

+ Prior research experience involving human participants is preferred.

Work Schedule

Must be able to work mornings, early evenings as and weekends on a regular, weekly basis.

Work Locations

This position in an on-site position (University Hospital/UH-South) and does not qualify for a remote or hybrid work schedule.

Additional Information

This is a term-limited position through April 2027, with the possibility of renewal based on need and available funding. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.

Background Screening
