Job Summary

As the Annual Giving Officer, you will manage the identification, cultivation, solicitation and retention of library donors with giving levels between $500-$5,000 while converting donors to major gift prospects. You will be responsible for high-level support in stewardship and recognition efforts for annual fund donors. You will also manage the coordination of the U-M Library's annual giving program which includes internal annual fund efforts and those that are coordinated by the Office of University Development's Annual Giving Office. You will report to the Senior Director of Development.

This position is a full-time, three year term appointment.
What You'll Do
+ Develop a comprehensive Annual Giving Strategy for the library with the Development team that increases response rate and retention of library donors
+ Qualify new annual giving donors through phone calls, digital engagement, programming and visits and manage a portfolio of donors capable of making gifts of $500-$5,000.
+ Cultivate donors' relationship with the U-M Library and the University of Michigan.
+ Make a case for supporting important programs, matching the interests of donor prospects to specific needs.
+ Participate in campus-wide direct mail opportunities and the Telefund programs.
+ Design and implement solicitations produced internally in the fall and spring for donor renewal with the Development team.
+ Organize one to two events per year in collaboration with the Development team, regional gift officers, campus partners, and donor volunteers.
+ Lead introductory and educational tours for donors and visiting prospects.
+ Represent the Development team at internal library meetings.
+ Learn the U-M Library's and University's history, mission, demographics, faculty, current programs and culture, to communicate how U-M Library distinguishes itself from peer institutions.
+ Demonstrate and be a model of collaboration in the development community, while representing U-M Library's values and its unique role at the University of Michigan.
Required Qualifications*
+ A baccalaureate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ 2 or more years of fundraising or alumni relations experience and/or relevant experience in other related fields, engaging with a sophisticated audience, handling sensitive information, and executing plans to accomplish a pre-defined goal.
+ Comfort with personal computers and software programs for retrieving, organizing and researching appropriate donor/prospect information, as well as data gathering, manipulation, and analysis.
+ Attention to detail with an ability to set priorities and complete projects.
+ Effective writing skills including experience in creating external communications such as solicitations, blogs, and marketing efforts.
+ Experience gathering and analyzing data to better understand constituents/ customers/donors.
+ Ability to act effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
+ Demonstrated confidence and strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, while engaging with constituents, customers, or donors with sophistication and maturity in social and professional settings.

Work Schedule
+ 40 hours/week; typically Monday - Friday, may change as needed.
+ May require evening or weekend work during occasional special events.
