Purpose:
The Director of Rating Agency will manage the company's engagement with most important external stakeholders including rating agencies and key regulators. The Director is responsible for overseeing the ratings process for Athene and building strong relationships with agencies. In addition, the role requires coordination of regulatory efforts and advocacy areas across the firm. This role reports directly to the VP Frameworks and Rating Agency Analytics position at Athene. The Director will play an important role in driving the overall strategy, engagement and advocacy efforts with key stakeholders. The Director will work very closely with Treasurer, CFO, and other business leaders across Apollo and Athene to align rating agency engagement and business strategy and objectives. Ideal candidate would be a leader with strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as prior knowledge of insurance and/or rating agency capital frameworks.
Accountabilities:
+ Support the VP and Treasurer in maintaining strong relationships with key rating agencies such as Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s, AM Best and Fitch Ratings
+ Develop presentation materials for rating agencies and regulators
+ Build rating agency models and lead rating agency submissions of financial data, risk assessments and strategic plans, surveys
+ Coordinate and lead meetings, presentations, and strategic reviews with rating agencies
+ Conduct industry research and peer benchmarking
+ Help lead the firm-wide coordination of developing and implementing strategies to achieve and maintain favorable credit ratings
+ Proactively monitor industry trends, emerging issues and regulatory changes to inform advocacy efforts, strategic planning and ensure compliance
+ Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the finance team
Qualifications and Experience:
+ 7+ years of experience in rating agency relations, financial management & analysis, investor relations or a related field within the industry
+ 4+ years of direct or indirect leadership experience
+ Proven track record of successfully managing relationships with major rating agencies
Skills:
+ Prior understanding of insurance capital regimes, rating agency models and capital frameworks
+ Strong financial acumen and analytical skills
+ Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
+ Strong leadership and team management skills
+ Ability to work in fast paced, multi-faceted environment, and drive influence
+ Ability to present to senior executives and Board committees
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required
• MBA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation are a plus
$139,280.00 - $208,920.00 USD Annual
Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
