    THE POSITION

    The Program Officer, Development and Strategic Partnerships, plays a critical role in advancing Envision Education’s mission by supporting and expanding the organization’s fundraising efforts. This role focuses on building strong donor relationships, managing fundraising campaigns, supporting grant writing and reporting, and ensuring high-quality donor communications. The Program Officer will work closely with 1-2 direct reports and cross-functional teams to sustain and grow revenue from individual donors, foundations, and institutional partners.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Fundraising and Donor Engagement

    + Develop, implement, and refine the annual development plan.

    + Implement segmented strategies for donor acquisition, cultivation, and stewardship across giving tiers and motivation profiles (e.g., values-aligned donors, alumni families, equity-driven funders).

    + Collaborate with the communications team to produce emotionally resonant donor journeys and appeals, ensuring consistency of voice and alignment with brand storytelling principles.

    + Coordinate logistics and communications for fundraising campaigns (e.g., year-end appeal, giving days, Evening with Envision).

    + Support the CEO and other senior leaders in fundraising activities, including preparing donor briefings and materials.

    + Grants and Institutional Giving

    + Cultivate new institutional funders by identifying values-aligned partnerships and managing grant cycles in collaboration with program staff.

    + Draft and edit compelling letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and reports.

    + Stay abreast of local, state, and federal grants and funding opportunities, leading all aspects of the process and coordinating across various team members to take advantage of these opportunities.

    + Ensure alignment of funds with Envision programs and larger vision for organizational execution.

    + Events and Campaigns

    + Lead the planning and execution of donor cultivation and stewardship events, including the annual Evening with Envision.

    + Collaborate with the communications team to develop donor-facing materials, including newsletters, impact reports, and campaign collateral.

    + Lead timely post-event stewardship of all donor segments.

    + Development Operations

    + Assist with maintaining accurate and up-to-date donor records in the CRM (e.g., Bloomerang, Salesforce).

    + Support the tracking and analysis of key fundraising metrics and the preparation of reports for internal and board use.

    + Help design and test systems to improve donor retention, including tracking touchpoints, applying behavioral insights to communications, and leveraging CRM analytics to deepen engagement.

    + Assist in ensuring timely and personalized donor acknowledgments and receipts.

    + Support the tracking of grant deadlines, submission dates, and reporting requirements.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or a related field.

    + Demonstrated success in donor relations, campaign coordination, or grant writing.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    + Experience using storytelling, segmentation, or behavioral science in fundraising preferred.

    + Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

    + Experience with donor databases or CRMs (e.g., Bloomerang, Salesforce) preferred.

    + Strong digital literacy and comfort testing donor journeys across email, CRM, and web platforms.

    + Commitment to equity in education and alignment with Envision Education’s mission and values.

    LOCATION

    This position is based in our Oakland office, and requires periodic visits to our three campuses in Oakland, San Francisco, and Hayward, as well as in person across the Bay Area to cultivate and steward partnerships.  Three days/week we work in-office, two days are flexible to work where we work best.

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    + Commensurate with experience and credentials. The starting range for this role is between $130,000 and $150,000.

    If you are offered this position, your base pay will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, Envision Education complies with applicable pay equity laws and considers internal equity among current employees when developing the final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the base range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.  We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
