    Role Overview

     

    The Director of Vertical Marketing will report to the Group Director of Enterprise Marketing and will lead the vertical marketing strategy for Walmart Connect. This role is crucial in driving the adoption and success of Walmart Connect’s ad products across various industry verticals through targeted marketing initiatives and strategic partnerships. The Director will be responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies that resonate with specific industry cohorts, enhancing Walmart Connect’s value proposition, and driving measurable business outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Strategic Leadership

    + Vertical Marketing Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies tailored to specific industry verticals, ensuring alignment with Walmart Connect’s overall brand vision and business objectives.

    + Market Insights: Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges within each vertical, leveraging data to inform strategic decisions and optimize marketing efforts.

    + Vision Development: Collaborate with the Group Director of Enterprise Marketing to develop both short- and long-term visions for vertical marketing initiatives.

    + Cross-Functional Collaboration

    + Partnerships: Foster strong partnerships with key cross-functional teams including sales, product marketing, corporate communications, growth marketing, and Walmart events and shows team to ensure cohesive and effective marketing campaigns.

    + Collaboration: Drive active collaboration with Walmart Connect executive leadership and internal clients to align vertical marketing strategies with broader business goals.

    + Marketing Execution

    + Sales Narratives: Develop compelling presentations and sales narratives that highlight Walmart Connect’s ad products and launches, targeting specific industry cohorts and category verticals.

    + Ad Campaigns: Create and oversee effective ad campaigns with innovative creative and strategic media buys, including rigorous testing plans for optimization.

    + Sales Enablement Content: Produce high-quality sales enablement materials such as sizzle videos, case studies, one-sheets, and more to support revenue growth.

    + Content Marketing Strategy: Develop and manage content marketing strategies that drive engagement and conversion, ensuring alignment with overall brand messaging and goals.

    + Event Management: Manage the footprint of industry events, including activations at major conferences and Walmart Connect’s owned and operated events.

    + Team Culture and Development

    + Team Leadership: Lead and cultivate a positive team culture that aligns with Walmart values, driving team satisfaction and engagement.

    + Coaching and Development: Implement plans to coach, motivate, and develop team members, providing clarity on personal goals and growth plans.

    + Essential Qualifications

    + Experience: 10+ years of experience in vertical marketing or industry-specific marketing roles, preferably within a major media platform or advertising agency.

    + Leadership: Proven experience in leading and managing marketing teams, with a strong track record of driving cross-functional partnerships.

    + Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with executive presence and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

    + Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute marketing strategies that drive measurable results and enhance brand value.

    + Event Management: Experience in producing and managing events and content for conferences, presentations, and stage shows.

     

    Ideal Candidate Profile

     

    The ideal candidate is a seasoned marketer with extensive experience in vertical marketing for major media platforms or advertising agencies. They possess excellent communication skills, executive presence, and a deep understanding of strategic brand management. This individual is adept at leading teams, driving collaboration across departments, and executing data-driven marketing strategies that yield measurable outcomes.

    Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Programs range from high school completion to bachelor's degrees, including English Language Learning and short-form certificates. Tuition, books, and fees are completely paid for by Walmart.

    The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00-$264,000.00

    Minimum Qualifications...

    Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field and 4 years' experience in marketing or related field OR 7 years'experience in marketing or related field.

     

    1 year's supervisory experience or experience leading cross-functional projects.
