Job Description

This job posting will be used to fill two (2) positions. This is an entry-level staff position that works under immediate supervision and looks to the Helpdesk Service Coordinator for daily work direction and coordination. This position is responsible for providing technical support to Hennepin Technical College students, staff and faculty. This position serves as the point of contact for reported incidents, service requests and inquiries and ensures accurate and detailed information is gathered. This position interacts with the College customers through telephone, walk-in, email, chat, web and other modes of support. The IT Support Specialist also provides administrative and operational support to the IT Services department.

Salary Range:

$25.16 ($52,534) - $37.77 ($78,864)

Minimum Qualifications

+ Service/Help Desk and/or computer support experience.

+ Experience using service management and ticketing software applications.

+ Evidence of exceptional customer service and communication skills including the demonstrated ability to communicate in English effectively by telephone, email, chat and in person with customers and colleagues in order to communicate technical concepts and/or processes and procedures.

+ Ability to multitask, troubleshoot, be resourceful and prioritize work in order to minimize negative customer impact

+ 2 year degree from an accredited institution in a related field or 3 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualification

+ ITIL Foundations certification

+ Training or certification in Microsoft Windows, Linux and/or Macintosh operating systems

+ Training or certification in Microsoft Office Suite

+ One year experience in an Information Technology capacity in higher education
