Job Duties – Examples of work for this specific vacancy include but are not limited to:

Maintain the environment climate of the East District 7 buildings in relationship to temperature, ventilation, and humidity in order to provide a healthy and comfortable environment for employees to function safely and efficiently. Provide technical assistance and labor as needed for the East District buildings. The Refrigeration Mechanic position provides journey-level service, maintenance and repair to all refrigeration, HVAC, and chilled water systems by maintaining and repairing all air conditioning and HVAC systems, including all BAS systems, so that all equipment is operating in the most efficient manner and major breakdowns are kept to a minimum. This position is also required to assist with other facility related duties as needed including snow removal at the Mankato Headquarters.

This work may involve some early mornings, weekends and/or nights.

Minimum Qualifications

+ Two (2) or more years of journey-level refrigeration mechanic experience in the maintenance and repair of major air conditioning and refrigeration systems (for example - central air conditioning, window air conditioners, HVAC, and commercial refrigeration.) NOTE: Appliance or home refrigerator repair will not meet the minimum qualifications.NOTE: Appliance or home refrigerator repair will not meet the minimum qualifications.

+ Universal EPA Certification for Handling of Refrigerants.

+ A valid Class D Driver’s License if driving a state vehicle or seeking reimbursement.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Second Class C Boiler’s License.

+ Knowledge/training in Building Automation Controls.

+ Diploma or degree in HVAC/Refrigeration from a vocational-technical training program.

+ Class A commercial driver’s license.
