Job Summary:
The Director of Quality & Safety is responsible for the daily operations of the Quality Assurance, Quality Control,
and Safety functions. This role develops and maintains the HAECO Global Engine Support FAA 145 repair station
quality system. The position is responsible for quality assurance and the quality control function of the repair
station. Ensures all quality-related policies and procedures detailed in the repair station quality manual are
adhered to and perform ongoing reviews to ensure effectiveness.
Essential Job Duties:
1.Directing planning and laying out the details of daily operations for the Quality Control Department including
inspection standards, methods, and procedures used by the repair station ensuring compliance with all
applicable Federal Aviation Regulations manufacture’s recommendations, and customer required policies and
procedures.
2.Maintain and keep current all records, manuals, and other necessary documentation for review by the
governing authority/authorities.
3.Liaise with governing authorities such as the FAA, EASA, and customers on matters related to the Quality
system.
4.Establish procedures for dealing with non-conformities, monitoring non-conformity reports, and taking
corrective/preventive action in response to audit findings.
5.Review the Quality Systems on new subcontractors who impact the operation and organize audits of their
quality systems.
6.Monitor all contracted maintenance for compliance with contract conditions and ensure that they have
relevant Part 145 approvals.
7.Grant authority to individuals to receive technician stamps, inspector stamps, and return to service.
8.Work alongside the accountable manager and help define the training syllabus for all technical employees.
9.Ensure the repair station has access to all appropriate technical publications and amend and revise as
necessary.
10.Establish a materials management inspection section by granting stores inspection authority to suitable
individuals.
11.Maintain the company’s regulatory approvals.
12.Properly train staff on Quality inspections and audits.
13.Work well with engineering, analyzing all relevant data and circulate within the company as necessary.
14.Responsible for all Quality records.
15.Maintain a summary of tech levels and communicate any changes to other departments as needed.
16.Supervise/manage/direct the selection, training, development, appraisal, and work assignments of personnel.
17.Provide detailed management oversight of the assigned department including analysis of discrepant areas and
development of corrective actions to prevent discrepancy reoccurrence
18.Establish and oversee auditing procedures for both in-house quality audits and outside vendor quality audits
19.Maintain a record of vendor audits including audits conducted by phone, mail, or in-person
20.Assure all vendors used are in the Approved Vendor list. Follow-up on vendor discrepancies to assure
adequate corrective actions have been taken
21.Continual monitoring for any RSM, QCM, FAR, safety, and/or operating procedure violations. Follow-up to
ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
22.Maintain FAA liaison in the absence of the General Manager, GES Americas
23.Accomplish investigations of accidents and supply results to the General Manager, GES Americas
24.Assure that all Quality personnel are treated equally and fairly and in accordance with the HAECO Human
Resources policies and procedures
25.Administer disciplinary action to assigned personnel, as appropriate and required, in accordance with the
HAECO Human Resources policies and procedures.
26.Schedule and/or accomplish internal quality assurance checklist, internal audits, scoring, and reporting
27.Investigate and provide timely responses to both customer and FAA investigation requests
28.Act as primary responsible person for the Technical Data Control and calibration programs
29.Be authorized to act on behalf of the repair station
30.Ensure accountability to conduct themselves within all guidelines of the company, FAA, and customer policies,
work rules, and regulations (ex. Repair Station Quality Manual (RSQM), Airworthiness Agreements), etc.
31.Promote a culture of safety by monitoring self and others to assure all duties are performed within the
guidelines as specified by the HAECO Safety, etc.
32.Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable safety policies.
33.Analyze safety reports to reduce future safety risks.
34.Provide quality and safety training to new and existing employees.
35.Audit facility to proactively identify risks to personnel.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist in the training of other employees as well as assisting them in the performance of their job assignments
through coaching, counseling, and guidance.
2. Interface effectively with members of management, other departments, and co-workers.
3. Keep your own and adjacent work area clean.
4. Perform other work as instructed by the General Manager, GES Americas.
Accountabilities:
The Director of Quality is accountable to the General Manager, GES Americas for performing daily maintenance
and/or repair assignments in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
1. FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate
2. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with a wide variety of people.
3. Basic computer skills
4. A thorough understanding of FAR (14 CFR) parts 21, 25, 43, 65, 91, 121, 125, 129, & 145.
5. A thorough understanding of the EASA 145 Rule
6. Ability to travel for extended periods of time for contract vendor auditing purposes.
7. Five (5) or more years of experience as a mechanic or inspector on large commercial type aircraft
8. Previous airline (CASE) auditing experience preferred.
9. Language (read, write, and understand English)
10. High School diploma or equivalent
11. Must have the ability to lead people and accept responsibility
